A:Use charcoal.Basically, you want something like a bucket or
barrel, make sure it is sealed on all sides, except a hole at the top, where the
water goes in, and one at the bottom, where water comes out. It is best if this
has a lid on top, that you can secure,but that you can open at will.Then
you will need charcoal.The best way to do this is to burn wood, with
most of your piece of wood covered with dirt, so it slowly smolders over time.
This will give you the most charcoal at the end.(If in doubt about how
to do this, you can take charcoal form your fire pit for a few
days.)Fill the barrel with the charcoal, and gently pack it in with a
tamper of some kind. (A rock would do...) Make sure the container is
full, but don't powder the bits of charcoal! They should be about the size of a
pea, for the most part.Put your lid on, and run water through it for a
bit, about five or ten minutes. This will get any loose particles of charcoal
out of the water.This filter should be good for about six months, then
you will want to empty and renew the charcoal.It will filter almost
everything out of the water, without much work.It is about as good as
the standard "Tap water" purifiers you can get for home use, but with greater
filtration range due to size, so it will actually pull out a bit
more.This is simple, cheap and easy to use.Information
